Atigun, a bay colt by Istan, won two of his first four starts as a three-year-old to earn consideration for the 2012 Belmont Stakes (G1), in which he finished third. He finished fifth in the Arkansas Derby (G1) and fifth in the 2011 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2).
Bred in Kentucky by Brereton C. Jones, Atigun is out of the Dynaformer mare Rimini Road and is from the family of Grade 1 winner and sire Cure the Blues.
