Brown Almighty won his debut by 1 ¾ lengths at Arlington Park in his very first race. He went on to win the Sunny’s Halo Stakes in Louisiana before entering the Sunday Silence Stakes. In his third start, he took the lead early and lost a nail-biting stretch run by just a neck to Java’s War. He moved on to Keeneland in the fall for the Bourbon Stakes (G2), where he and the other 11 entrants encountered significant interference in the stretch. Brown Almighty battled gamely, crossing the finish line third, and was placed second via disqualification of Really Sharp.
Brown Almighty was the first stakes winner for 2008 Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness Stakes (G1) winner Big Brown, whose first foals are hitting the track this year. He is trained by Midwest-based Tim Ice.
