Horses
Bred: Bridlewood Farm (Ky.)
Sire: Malibu Moon
Dam: Eden’s Causeway, by Giant’s Causeway
Eden’s Moon has shown class as a 3-year-old in 2012, winning a pair of graded stakes and placing in two others.
Withdrawn from the 2010 Keeneland September yearling sale, Eden’s Moon was bought back for $110,000 six months later at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Florida sale of selected 2-year-olds in training. Trainer Bob Baffert bought the daughter of Malibu Moon for owner Kaleem Shah for $390,000 at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale of 2-year-olds in training. She showed speed in her workout, but she has a broodmare pedigree that reflects the strong female family of her breeder, Bridlewood Farm.
A filly who flashes early speed, Eden’s Moon got in trouble in the stretch of the Las Virgenes Stakes (G1) but overcame the physical stretch drive to win. Eden’s Moon is a versatile filly who prefers longer races, and Baffert is still experimenting with her, having discovered that she likes firm turf and dirt as well as synthetic surfaces.
