Bred: WinStar Farm (Ky.)

Sire: Speightstown

Dam: Business Plan, by Deputy Minister

It took the son of Speightstown a few tries to break his maiden, but after securing that win in his sixth career start, he promptly finished second to Prospective by three-quarters of a length in the Tampa Bay Derby (G2). Golden Ticket briefly wrested the lead from Prospective in the stretch, but Prospective dug in and moved back in front.

Golden Ticket secured his first career stakes win when he finished in a dead heat with Alpha in the 2012 Travers Stakes (G1), the first official dead heat in the 143-year history of the race.

Golden Ticket, who is out of the Deputy Minister mare Business Plan, sold for $100,000 at the 2011 Keeneland April 2-year-old in training sale.
