Horses
Bred: Mike G. Rutherford (Ky.)
Sire: Midnight Lute
Dam: Stage Stop, by Valid Expectations
From the first crop of 2007 champion male sprinter Midnight Lute, Mylute finished second in a stakes in his second career start before earning his first career win on the synthetic surface at Arlington Park for trainer Tom Amoss. Mylute punched himself a ticket to the Kentucky Derby when he finished second to Revolutionary by a neck in the Louisiana Derby (G1). Mylute was unlucky in the Derby, coming out on the losing end of a three-way photo finish for third but rebounded to get third in the Preakness Stakes.
Multiple stakes winner Stage Stop, by Valid Expectations, is the dam of Mylute, who was a $150,000 purchase at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July sale of selected yearlings.
