Horses
Bred: Diamond A Racing Corp. (Ky.)
Sire: Awesome Again
Dam: Tizso, by Cee's Tizzy
After a dominant debut win for Racing Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert in February, Paynter made his second career start in the Santa Anita Derby (G1) and finished a respectable fourth, 3 ¾ lengths behind I’ll Have Another. He followed with a runner-up finish in the Derby Trial Stakes (G3) before an impressive 5 ¾-length romp in an allowance race on the Preakness Stakes (G1) undercard that punched his ticket to the Belmont Stakes (G1).
AFter finishing a game second in the Belmont Stakes, Paynter earned his first career stakes win in the Haskell Invitational Stakes (G1).
Paynter has a high cruising speed and is by a sire in Awesome Again who is very capable of getting a big horse. Kentucky-bred Paynter also has the pedigree to compliment his solid racetrack performance. He is a half brother to Grade 3 winner Tiz West and stakes winner Tizakitty, but more importantly, his dam, Tizso, is a full sister to 2000 Horse of the Year and two-time Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner Tiznow as well as Grade 2 winners Budroyale and Tizdubai.
