Bred: Four D Stables (KY)
Dam: Personal Allure, by Wekiva Springs
Last at the head of the stretch in last year’s $2 million TVG Breeders’ Cup Mile, Turallure closed desperately on the outside but couldn’t get past longshot Court Vision in one of the most thrilling renewals in the race’s history. Following his runner-up finish by the closest of margins, Turallure returns as a 5-year-old seeking the division’s top prize.
The homebred of Donna Arnold’s Four D Stables got hot late last year and earned a “Win and You’re In” spot in the Breeders’ Cup using his customary late kick to win the $1 million Woodbine Mile Stakes. It was no surprise that he found success in Canada as he is the son of 2003 Canadian Triple Crown winner Wando. He is the fourth foal and fourth winner out of the Wekiva Springs mare Personal Allure, who like her son, was bred by Four D Stables and trained by Charles Lopresti. One year before Turralure became her first graded stakes winner, she was sold for $10,000 at the 2010 Keeneland November breeding stock sale.
