Horses
Bred: William D. Graham
Sire: Lion Heart
Dam: Captivating, by Arch
Uncaptured almost certainly guaranteed himself a Sovereign Award as Canada's champion 2-year-old male when he won his fifth stakes race of 2012 with a game victory in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs. He also cemented his credentials as contender for Canadian Horse of the Year.
Trained by Mark Casse, Uncaptured reeled off three stakes wins at Woodbine after prevailing in his debut. He suffered his first defeat in the Grey Stakes (Can-G3) but rebounded to take the Iroquois Stakes (G3) at Churchill in his first start on dirt. The Lion Heart colt followed with a score in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2) for owner John Oxley.
While Uncaptured didn't manage a win in his two 2013 starts before the Kentucky Derby (G1), a second place finish in the Spiral Stakes (G3) guaranteed the colt a spot in the run for the roses.
