Violence, a $600,000 purchase at the 2011 Keeneland September yearling sale, debuted with a victory in a maiden race at Saratoga Race Course in August 2012. He then handled a stern class test in his second start by winning the Nashua Stakes (G2) by two lengths for trainer Todd Pletcher. Violence rounded out the year with a 1 1/4 length victory in the CashCall Futurity (G1) for his first career Grade 1 victory.
