A Native of Minnesota, Kellyn Gorder rode his first winner at Atokad Park. He soon joined Jack Van Berg's Stable as a rider and foreman.
Gorder came to Lexington to work in the training division of the 505 Farm, eventually becoming the licensed trainer and campaigning Sunset Handicap (G2) winner Grammarian. During this time, Gorder was able to spend time in California with John Shirreffs, trainer of Zenyatta.
After seven years as farm trainer for Winstar Farm, Gorder went out on his own establishing a fast-growing public stable.
In addition to the public racing stable, Gorder has started and developed many stakes-winning horses, including Colonel John, Well Armed, Hold Me Back, Court Vision, Advice, Drosselmeyer, Bluegrass Cat and 2010 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Super Saver.
He recently won the Super Derby (G2) with Bourbon Courage, who will be running in the Indiana Derby (G2) on October 6.
