Well, just five more days until the second leg of the Triple Crown. We're still waiting to hear on the status of the Bob Baffert runners. Mike Harrington says that Creative Cause is a definite for the race, which is great.
I'll Have Another appears that he has come out of the Derby in great form and the lightly raced colt continues to thrive. I am looking forward to the NBC telecast as more people viewed the Derby this year than in the past 26 years. We plan to continue with the new technology developed to make our pre race telecast more viewer friendly for the expert and novice. It should be an exciting race once again and I am very much looking forward to it.
This past week there has been a lot made of the use of race-day medications and The Jockey Club has endorsed the new campaign Clean Horse Racing. I also endorse Clean Horse Racing not only for the safety of horse and rider but to insure the integrity of our great sport. Without integrity how can the perception to our fans, bettors, breeders, owners continue to move forward and flourish? The reason I have been outspoken on this topic is that I want to see our sport continue to survive at every level. I trust in The Jockey Club to move us in the right direction to get this sport back where it once was, brick by brick, to survive any storm we may encounter. Now is the time for us to take the bull by the horns and move forward, we really do have momentum right now. Any how, enough about that. Let's look forward to a great Preakness, Belmont, and a strong summer and fall season. Remember, horse racing is the greatest sport played outdoors!
