Schettino started out in the Thoroughbred industry in the mid-1980s and served as an assistant trainer to Dominick Imperio before taking out his trainer's license in 1992.
A Bronx, New York, native, Schettino trained Grade 2-placed stakes winner Galloping Grocer, who was unplaced in the 2005 Preakness Stakes (G1).
