Musical Heart earned his first stakes placing in the Queens County Stakes at Aqueduct on Dec. 19, 2020. He contested the early pace, and although he could not keep up with winner Backsideofthemoon, he held on to finish second, well clear of third place.

After a few more stakes placings, Musical Heart broke through for his first stakes win, taking the Flat Out Stakes by 3/4 of a length at Belmont Park on April 30, 2021. Trevor McCarthy put him on a long early lead, and he led by 5 1/2 lengths in the final eighth of a mile. Although Ajaweed surged at him late, Musical Heart had just enough to hold on for the victory.
