Cody Dorman, An Inspirational Hero Who Captured Our Hearts

11.06.2023

America’s Best Racing and all of horse racing mourn the loss of Cody Dorman, the 17-year-old Kentuckian at the heart of the most emotionally charged story during this year’s and last year’s Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Cody Dorman died Nov. 5 on his way home after watching his namesake Cody’s Wish win his second consecutive Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.

Dorman, born with Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, a rare genetic disorder affecting many body parts, met Cody’s Wish as a foal in a Make-A-Wish encounter so heartwarming and memorable that Godolphin named the homebred after him. Cody Dorman’s memory will live forever and we at America’s Best Racing will continue to tell his inspirational story of courage, strength, and resiliency.
